Because of its long term history Kansas City Bag Company, Inc., has become one of the larger distributors and importers of paper, poly shipping sacks, and FIBC (bulk bags) in the US and the Caribbean. Most of our shipments are pre-sold because of the detailed specifications that delineate different customer requirements, including graphics. Specifications are rigidly adhered to match customers’ special packing equipment. The company has independent agents that are specialists in bag construction, packing equipment, freight, and graphic design.
Because of the similarity in documented orders the company entered into a marketing agreement with a woman owned printed folding carton producer (Colbert Packaging) with multiple plants in the Midwest. Colbert’s core business is primarily with pharmaceutical customers in the US. Through Kansas City’s independent sales agents trained in much of the same methods used for boxes. These include construction specifications, graphics, freight, and special requirements. This new offering is opening up new opportunities for both bag and box shipments. Printed booklets can be included with folding carton orders!
Management has developed a cloud data base that details custom specifications, including graphics, and orders. Information as to manufacturing and shipping dates is updated and communicated to customers. Current freight quotes are posted. This information will be available on line to customers in late 2020. Other offerings include labels, pallet pads, corrugated printed boxes, and small bags.
PAST PERFORMANCE
In our beginning years the company was hired by International Paper to help penetrate the multi-wall paper bag market with an emphasis on the flour and feed milling industries. During this time the management developed experience and knowledge of the many issues involved. These included detailed specifications, graphics, customer equipment problems, and quality control issues. Management was able to develop over $10 million in new sales. The lessons learned during the earlier period allowed the company to become a major distributor and importer of paper and plastic bags sold throughout the United States and the Caribbean. In the past the company was a significant supplier to USDA vendors for PL480 shipments overseas. This included woven poly flour and bulgur bags, and wheat shipments. The company has also supplied the Core of Engineers with sand bags.

Kansas City Bag has many vendors both domestic and off shore. Some of our relationships go back 20 or more years. Because of this diversity we are able to find the best packaging solution for our customers. Many of our clients use different types of bags that no single vendor can supply. We also provide technical assistance with end use applications and packing issues. Our objective for our customer is to help them get the most production with their equipment. The real cost of packaging is based on how many items can you get shipped in a time frame. Our experience in bag design and construction allows us to provide the most economical and best solution for end usage. Our cloud data base allows for better communication to both vendors and customers, especially in providing real time information as to manufacturing and planned shipping dates. We use numerous freight companies to facilitate shipments at the lowest cost.
